Sangiran Area

The Sangiran area is a cultural reserve located in Central Java, Indonesia. UNESCO recognized the Sangiran area as a World Heritage Site in 1996 due to its wealth of fossils and archaeological artifacts. Sangiran is also one of the most important sites for studying human evolution and prehistoric life in Southeast Asia. Thousands of fossils of early humans and animals, as well as stone tools, have been found in the Sangiran area, helping to reveal the long history of humans in the past.
